What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a safe and supportive space where you can talk freely about your thoughts and feelings. It also gives you a better understanding of behavior patterns that are keeping you from living the life you want, ways of thinking, significant life events, your goals and values in life. Therapy can provide support with problems such as anxiety, depression, stress, traumatic experiences, loss, fears and insecurities, relationship issues or whatever you need support with. It is a safe environment that allows you to move through your emotions and learn new skills in order to better cope with life’s challenges. The main purpose of psychotherapy is to help clients live a meaningful and purposeful life in the here and now.

Our therapists are skilled CBT-trained professionals who listen empathically and work collaboratively alongside you in order to help you cope with the issues that brought you to therapy.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?

CBT is an evidence-based talking treatment that focuses on the relationship between our thoughts, emotions and actions. It is based on the understanding that the way we think about situations, about ourselves or someone else affects the way we feel, and the way we feel affects our actions. CBT aims to identify thoughts and beliefs that underlie each client’s difficulties and teaches him/her how to respond to challenging situation in a more effective way. It also teaches the client to identify the antecedents and consequences of his/her behavior and therefore to understand its function (why it occurs).

CBT is a values-oriented treatment. This means that one of its main goals is to help the client clarify what is really important to him/her in life, identify whatever hinders him/her from living the life he/she wishes to live and help him/her take concrete steps towards a valued life.
